Objectives

The aim of Press Start Europe Tunisia 2 (“PSET2”) was to combine cross-cultural awareness and personal growth in youth with the basic elements of social entrepreneurship. We wanted to combine cultures by connecting youth from France and Tunisia who would engage in workshops over one week in each country when they would explore personal goals and the themes of inclusion and intercultural exchange, social awareness and social entrepreneurship. During the two weeks, the youth participants would develop personal entrepreneurial projects using their new competencies and self-awareness. Among the youth participants, we intended to include refugees in each country. PSET2 was piloted in 2019 in France with our partner FivePoints and expanded in 2021 to include workshops with Tunisian youth in Tunisia and French youth in France (PSET1). With Covid-19 travel restrictions, no youth travelled in PSET1, and we were obliged to join the two groups only via video conferencing. With PSET2, we wanted to include the aspect of a true exchange with the youth visiting both countries. PSET2’s objectives included implementing our workshops and visits and providing an education and training to youth in France and Tunisia that was enhanced by expanding their perspective, connecting with youth from another country and gaining experience abroad. As a result, we also aimed to help the youth participants grow personally, increasing in self-confidence, become more aware of social and ecological issues, and feel capable to analyzing and making informed decisions that would guide them through their future endeavors. Lastly, we had the aim to bring YAKA’s Press Start program on an international level in Tunisia to develop new partnerships across borders. Lastly, we wanted to push the youth participants to discuss common values of freedom and inclusion and feel empowered and motivated to face questions and challenges in society today through their projects.
