Objectives

The project "Youth League: Comics as a Tool for Youth Work" was a dynamic and collaborative initiative aimed at empowering youth workers and equipping them with valuable skills and tools to engage effectively with young people, address issues of inclusion and diversity, promote inclusive practices, and foster long-term positive change within their communities. The project spanned various phases and involved international partners, dedicated participants, and a range of innovative approaches within and beyond the training course itself. The project aimed to achieve the following objectives: - To raise awareness about the challenges and complexities associated with diversity and inclusion. By creating comics that depict these issues, we aimed to provoke thought, conversation, and understanding among participants and the wider audience. - To promote and encourage diversity appreciation and the inclusion of people with fewer opportunities. We intended to challenge prejudices and biases by featuring minority representatives, immigrants, and marginalized groups as comic book protagonists. - To educate participants on how to effectively use comics as an educational tool. Through hands-on experience, participants have learned how comics can serve as a powerful medium for conveying information and engaging young people in beyond tokenistic dialogues on emerging issues. - Participants were expected to enhance their graphic facilitation and storytelling skills, which are essential for crafting compelling and impactful comics and must to have skills of youth workers. - To produce a collection of comic books centered around social inclusion and diversity and promote those creations online and offline, thereby reaching a broader audience and promoting meaningful conversations. - To equip participants with skills, knowledge, and competencies of the facilitation of comic creation workshops within their youth work activities. - To develop a Comprehensive Manual detailing the step-by-step process of comics creation and its applications in the context of youth work. This manual would serve as a guide for future initiatives and workshops. (As an extra output we produced a Video-scribe manual on the steps of Comix creation). - To provide Youth Workers and Youth Leaders with an opportunity to network and establish new collaborations and best practices exchange. - Lastly, to enhance the quality of Youth Work. Therefore, we aimed to foster an environment where youth workers could develop workshops and initiatives that encouraged social cohesion, promoted mutual respect among diverse cultural backgrounds, and addressed issues related to minority inclusion.
