The context of the InVErt-R project was linked to the realities of rural youth and their willingness to participate in the dialogue on decisions that affect them. Young rural people who are trained in MFR are sensitive to citizenship issues and want to contribute to the development of their territory, without remaining isolated. As part of the implementation of the movement's project and more specifically of Education for Worlds and Others, the MFRs were to organise activities with young people outside of formal education and training to continue to encourage, promote and facilitate the participation of young people in European democratic life: • at local and regional level through the continuation of regional events in May 2023 and during the Erasmus Days 2023 • at national and European level with their contribution to structured dialogue campaigns during activities related to European events (Youth Conference in Sweden in March 2023 and European Youth Event in Strasbourg in June...) The young people wanted to confirm their European commitment, which has been a reality since 2019 with the REuF programme! and since 2016 with the Start the Change program. A prerequisite had been achieved with the activities of young people in Strasbourg during the European Youth Conference at the beginning of 2022, with the aim of understanding their needs regarding aspects related to participation in democratic life and their understanding of the themes of "a Green and Inclusive Europe". A mural summarises their ideas, the content of which was to be used during the provox campaign and the European youth event in June 2023 in Strasbourg. They continued the collective momentum in Prague in July 2022 at an informal event around the European Youth Conference. They produced a Kombini format on 3 themes as a contribution. Here's an example: https://youtu.be/4uoD5yWnQXk?si=ebu2lZRRRSeBqK9v This project was to coincide with the European Structured Dialogue campaign in order to show young people and MFR how they can contribute to the different stages and make their voices heard while building new spaces for dialogue for rural youth. MFR teams and their partners were to be present alongside young people to facilitate debates and the development of proposals on topics related to the European Youth Goal "a green and sustainable Europe" but also "inclusive societies". It was planned to deepen advocacy on the previous objectives on rural youth, overseas territories and participation. The 4 Objectives of the MFRs and their partners were to further strengthen the link between local, national and transnational youth-oriented participation projects led by informal youth groups in partnership with youth organisations that promote youth participation in European democratic life: 1. Provide opportunities for youth to engage in and learn how to participate in civil society • Giving them opportunities to engage in their daily lives • but also to participate in democratic life, with the aim of ensuring the effective civic, economic, social, cultural and political participation of young people in rural areas, particularly those in the overseas departments; 2. Raising awareness among young people about fundamental rights and Europe's common values and contributing to the process European integration by participating in: • Achieving the European Youth Goals "A Green and Sustainable Europe" and "More Inclusive Societies" by participating in the ongoing European Structured Dialogue campaign • the implementation of the recommendations of previous campaigns on youth participation and on the inclusion of young people in rural areas and in the overseas departments 3. Strengthen young people's digital skills and media literacy, in particular critical thinking and the ability to evaluate and process information in relation to the Union's Communication Service, in particular for social networks, • to increase their ability to resist disinformation, fake news and propaganda • as well as their ability to take part in democratic life by choosing their digital uses in full knowledge of the commercial uses of their data and the consequences on democratic dialogue, for example (social networks, etc.); 4. Organise meetings between young people and political decision-makers from local to Europe and contribute to the European Youth Dialogue. Digital issues are in fact unavoidable and young people had to highlight them at every event. We had to make it a transversal axis of the project, both in the design of the activities and in the support of the young people in their digital practices with vlogs for example.
