Objectives

Concordia Auvergne co-ordinates the hosting of civic service and European Solidarity Corps volunteers, for missions of 6 to 12 months. The youth participation project emerged from the desire of European volunteers to be able to carry out a collective project with other young people in the region, to raise awareness of their engagement as European Solidarity Corps volunteers and to strengthen their cultural, intercultural, linguistic and educational skills. Through this project, Concordia Auvergne wanted to offer monthly meetings between volunteers, bringing together European volunteers and civic service, by proposing interventions by partners on different themes according to the interests and needs identified by the group, and by allowing them to get involved in a collective project in which they would be 'actors'. Bringing together participants involved in different projects with different partners in the region was also intended to facilitate the emergence of a collective dynamic and exchanges between volunteers, as well as encouraging links between local organisations. Concordia Auvergne wanted to support this collective project by providing logistical, material and organisational support for the project and by facilitating the organisation of activities by local partners based on the chosen themes, in line with European values and sustainable development objectives. Through this project, we wanted to strengthen the volunteers' knowledge and skills on different themes, raise their awareness of the tools of non formal education and encourage them to put them into practice by developing their own activity tools on the themes of their choice, and by animating them with different audiences. Thanks to the awareness-raising activities carried out by the participants in the region, we wanted to promote European values, the objectives of sustainable development and the various engagement and mobility programmes to young people in the region, particularly in urban and rural areas. For our association, this first youth participation project gave us the opportunity to experience a collective project over several months with the volunteers, and to enable regular meetings and more intensive exchanges between European volunteers and civic service volunteers. This project was an opportunity to strengthen the skills of the young people we support by giving them the chance to take part in a collective project alongside their mission within their host organisation, to take initiatives and to participate in an intercultural and multilingual group. In this way, the aim is to strengthen the integration of young people into the local community and increase their knowledge of the associative sector in Auvergne. Through this project, we also wanted to strengthen the links between the volunteer's hosting organisations and, more generally, our partners in the associative sector.
