The PYMOOC project aimed to: Better explain the Sustainable Development Goals to the residents and visitors of the cross-border Pyrenees territory. Show and demonstrate that local territories are actively engaged and perfectly aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, with a strong emphasis on this mountainous region. Highlight that there is indeed a unique identity, or DNA, of the Pyrenees, and that many projects are carried out on both sides of the mountain range, often in complete partnership and taking place in a fully cross-border manner. There is, therefore, a true Pyrenean identity.
Ecocène and Natura Blai decided to apply for this project because both associations work on environmental and sustainable development themes. Natura Blai focuses more on the knowledge of local biodiversity, while Ecocène works on sustainable development issues within territorial dynamics. The Sustainable Development Goals have become a reliable reference for assessing the sustainability of a territory and are therefore central themes for both associations. In parallel, a strong emphasis is placed by both associations on raising awareness among young people. There are currently few educational tools available to simplify the Sustainable Development Goals and make them understandable for young people and young adults. The idea of this project was to concretely rely on the local territory of the Pyrenees to create educational tools that showcase all the actions of local dynamics. The territories are truly in action, especially the cross-border mountain areas.
