Objectives

Through our project "27 minutes to discuss Europe", the objective was, first and foremost, to talk about Europe in a different way, closer to the territories and their citizens. To be able to reach this objective we relied on the input of young Europeans, aspiring journalists, who have a different and complementary vision of what Europe represents today, and of its main challenges linked to citizenship, European values, the environment and geopolitics. The second objective was to make these young journalists ambassadors of the European democratic values among other citizens, including young people from rural or remote territories.

Background

In connection with the European Year of Youth and its objectives, euradio wanted with its partners Eurêka 21 and Géopolis to develop a project that aimed to give voice to young people and connect territories and citizens to Europe. Our project addressed two needs : a need to discuss Europe with a concrete, local and citizen approach, to counter misinformation and euroscepticism and a second need, that was to raise awareness on European democratic and civic values across European territories and mainly among European youth. Beyond these two global needs, our project answered the needs of our target group (young journalists) to engage and express their views on the EU as well as their need to develop their journalistic skills.
