Our project “Think green: act green!” besides forming a curricula for sustainable development and bilingual handbook with outdoor activities described in detail, will, by carefully choosing job shadowing practices and structured courses, directly contribute to raising the levels of competencies of our educators in the field of sustainable development, ecology, permaculture, teaching methodology and innovation in teaching. Through this project we want to ensure preschool children get rich material environment in the courtyards of our kindergartens. Such environment will call preschool children for action, specifically different kinds of self-organized activities. Also, through this project we want to ensure high quality of education for our preschool teachers in the field of ecology, sustainable development, permaculture and teaching methodology. In that way we will ensure the best conditions for children involved in our programmes.
Our kindergarten is actively involved in Erasmus+ programmes since 2013 (Comenius as its predecessor). For the past 4 years our kindergarten holds eTwinning label and is carrying out a lot of eTwinning projects. The kindergarten operates in 8 locations, each of which has a courtyard the size of 7000 m2. A preschool child needs, by its nature, a lot of movement, and our courtyards allow that. We have noticed that we lack knowledge of different outdoor activities that would be connected to sustainable development. After conducted research where we were looking for opinions of teachers and parents on the topic, we found out that they could all use a handbook of outdoor activities and outdoor games closely connected to the topic of sustainable development and ecology. We would like to develop specific curricula for outdoor learning and environmental activities and to develop a handbook (in two languages) with a description of specific activities in the field of sustainable develop
