Background

Primary School Vladimir Nazor, Daruvar, implements a regular primary school programme from Year 1 to Year 8 for children aged 6-15. We are one of the largest schools in the County. The challenges we are facing are the lack of motivation for learning with growing number of students, which leads to the situation that the students do not develop sufficient skills needed for their successful future life and work. Lower success is especially visible in STEM subjects. The Quality Team of our school notices that it is getting harder to motivate children for competitions, a significant number of students do not study for exams, students are very passive during lessons, a very small number of students are able to solve tasks of a higher cognitive level, students are not sufficiently independent nor responsible in their work. There are certain challenges in the school area as well: the number of inhabitants is dropping and the brain drain, which the whole of Croatia is faced with, is very intensive in our region. We would like to give our students quality education, develop their skills and potential, so that they could continue their education successfully and contribute to the development of the local community in the future.
