This project was a new and an extremely useful experience for our students. They met people from different cultures, improved their professional, language competence and communicational skills and experienced working at specific workplaces they are being educated for. We expect this experience to have a big impact and additionally motivate the students in their studies, encourage personal growth and self-confidence of each student but also boost their references when looking for a job – as well as increasing their desire for further education in the profession. Through the implementation of mobility, we tried to have the students acquire primarily skills and knowledge that cannot be acquired during regular schooling. They learned about different ways of work organization and the use of technology in this field, resulting in greater motivation of the students to acquire professional knowledge and skills - both those who participated in the mobility and the ones who did not. The participants improved their skills, and therefore the possibility of employment either on our market or on the European market. This project benefited us by raising the very quality of our school's work and its recognition in the local community.
The Medical Highschool in Šibenik has a total of 337 students coming from all areas of Šibenik-Knin County, often from less developed parts such as towns of Knin and Drniš (these areas fall into Areas of Special State Concern category). A lot of our students come from lower socioeconomic background and the project “Health in Europe - we work and learn”, thus, is definitely an opportunity to provide such students, among others, with an international work experience they certainly can’t acquire in our or their local communities. With all of the above mentioned in mind, with this project, we tried to reduce the obstacles we and our students face which directly affect the knowledge and skills of our students required for work in the field of health care. Our aim is to improve the existing and ensure the acquisition of new knowledge, skills and competence for our students in order to increase their grades and qualification levels on the labour market. This project is an exceptional opportunity for our students to achieve the learning outcomes at a higher level and to acquire professional skills. Thus, the school strives to ensure a modern, high-quality and comprehensive approach to the upbringing and education of its students.
