The Youth Exchange ‘Earth, me and all it can be’ was imagined as an answer to the youngsters’ needs and desire to take more actions in relation to environmental preservation knowing that taking small steps in the direction of planet protection can make a difference. The partners intentions and ideas were backed up by many surveys and data, among them a Eurobarometer survey about what should be the top priorities for the EU in the years and where young people's first reply was the protection of the environment and the fight against climate change (67%) followed by the improvement of education and training (56%) (https://europa.eu/eurobarometer/surveys/detail/2224). The objectives we wanted to reach were: -to deepen participants’ awareness and understanding of environmental issues, the concept of sustainability, and eco-friendly practices. This project is in line with the guidelines for a green transition mapped out in the European competence framework on sustainability (https://publications.jrc.ec.europa.eu/repository/handle/JRC128040) that include competencies of critical thinking, initiative-taking, respecting nature, and understanding the impact everyday actions and decisions have on the environment and the global climate. -to promote intercultural learning between young people from different countries through non-formal education. -to promote topics addressed by the project and to inform young people about the Erasmus +. Our project, by directly addressing the objectives reached three main actors: 1. Our participants: the changes start from the individuals and later they involve more actors. We wanted to reach these individuals and equip them with skills, knowledge, and attitudes which later they could use themselves and pass it to the others. Being involved in this project they could contribute to the sustainability and promote it in their communities. With their active participation, they fostered a confidence in the contribution and participate in a development of a more sustainable environment. 2. NGOs: These actors are usually a starting point for many youngsters who have a vision of a better world. With this project, we wanted our partners and us to involve more volunteers and with these volunteers to implement the topic in the communities. Another reason was to expand the network and identify new opportunities. With our cooperation, we wanted to continue with development of activities, especially the international ones. The participation in another Erasmus + project was also our goal as this participation suits our needs as NGOs. 3. Community: Participants and NGOs are a part of communities, and they serve as a bridge between the communities and the ideas imagined coming true. As such, the community, once exposed to these ideas becomes more aware of the issues the world is facing, and environmental issues are the ones we wanted to stress out with this project. We saw the results, like the day when our participants gave away the birdhouses they had constructed.
