Digital youth workQuality and innovation of youth work

Objectives

Both because of COVID-19 and because of the trends and technology involvement, many NGOs and youth workers started to use various apps, programs and online activities in order to work with young people. Despite the fact that technology is constantly evolving and it is important that young people, like everyone else, adapt to new trends and develop their digital skills, we must still be aware of the dangers of acting in a purely digital world. Non-profit organizations are in a particularly difficult situation and have had to fully adapt their activities to the new challenges. As a consequence, more and more of them are starting to rely on online activities. Many of them are transitioning almost completely to digital activities because in that way they need to invest less time, preparation and money compared to face to face activities. However, the question that arises is how much online activities for young people (who spend too much time with technology anyway) are useful for them, and how harmful. With the project, we want to tackle the questions: “How do online activities affect young people?”, “What is the best ratio of online and live activities?”, “How to use digital tools in a way that complements live activities instead of replacing them?”, “Which digital tools to use and how?”. Some of the objectives of the project are: Understanding the Impact of Online Activities on Young People: The project aims to explore and analyze how online activities affect young people, taking into consideration both positive and negative effects. By understanding these impacts, the project seeks to develop strategies that promote a healthy balance between online and offline activities for the youth. Finding the Optimal Ratio of Online and Live Activities: The project intends to determine the most effective balance between digital and in-person activities for young people. It seeks to identify the appropriate mix of online and offline engagements that can enhance the overall well-being and development of young individuals. Creating Strategies for Digital Tool Usage: The project aims to equip youth workers and experts with knowledge and skills to use digital tools in a manner that complements live activities rather than replacing them entirely. This includes identifying suitable digital tools and methods for youth work and understanding how to integrate them into existing programs effectively. Increasing Awareness of the Importance of Yin-Yang Balance: The project strives to raise awareness among youth workers and experts about the significance of maintaining a balanced approach between online and offline activities for young people. It emphasizes the need to avoid excessive reliance on digital activities while recognizing their potential benefits. Providing a Forum for Discussion and Knowledge Sharing: The project aims to create a space for youth workers to come together and discuss various aspects of youth work in the digital age. This includes sharing experiences, methodologies, findings, and ideas to tackle the challenges and issues that arise from using digital technologies in youth work.
