With Croatian demographics being negative on almost all accounts, it was evident that changes are in order. However, such changes do not happen quickly on a grand scale, and the European Youth Parliament, although only a small part of a larger picture, takes pride in being a part of it. The goal of this project was to alleviate some of the pains caused by political apathy in Croatia, through educating the youth, not only in the ways they can be more active, but also the impact they can make by being active. More than ever, as we return to normal life after a pandemic that hasn’t started to vain, it is paramount we show students the different options and opportunities for them to engage in our society. Through non-profit, non-governmental organisations such as the European Youth Parliament, today's youth get a chance to learn how to fight for what they believe in and turn their country and Europe in the right direction. The project title “Transition to Young Europe: Empowering Youth through Active Citizenship” was a great summation of what we wanted to achieve in the long run by working in the organisation, and that was to give power to those whom it belongs to, in order to ensure a better place for youth today and the future generations, consequently raising the quality of life to uphold to today’s youth’s standards. Today's volunteers of our organisation started in similar circumstances as the young people in the Republic of Croatia today, but through our organisation, they got involved and transferred their knowledge and made substantial political impact in the real world. We wish the same to our delegates who, although perhaps unconscious, are the bearers of our organisation, but also of our nation’s future. We offered participants different domains of work; from engaging in discussions as Delegates, organising logistics and contributing to the smooth execution of the project, leading committee-based groups and facilitating their discussions or dealing with team management and work distribution, and participating in the media team, but most importantly, this project supports them in acquiring invaluable and versatile skills that they will be able to apply in private life, even after the project itself had passed.
