Through the implementation of this project, we aimed to develop a customized educational program for individuals aged over 60, focusing on computer and smartphone usage. The objectives were to enhance digital skills, promote social inclusion through online communication, and contribute to a better aging process by providing older individuals with tools for active participation in the digital world. Furthermore, the project had a long-term vision – creating a sustainable program for partner organizations and raising awareness about the importance of digital literacy among older individuals. Through international collaboration, the goal was to exchange experiences and enhance educational practices. The project team aspired to bring about positive changes in the lives of older individuals, contributing to their improved quality of life and social inclusion.
We applied for this project because we recognized the real needs of our fellow citizens, especially those aged over 60 in our community. We observed that despite existing computer usage education, there is a lack of a specific and tailored program for older individuals. Our goal was to develop a program that would focus on their specific needs, a program that would save them time in their daily activities and improve their communication with family and friends, enable them to read news online, and enjoy their free time more. Additionally, we noticed that older people often aren't involved in education due to financial constraints. Through this project, we wanted to provide a high-quality learning opportunity, with special attention to adapting program activities to their needs. Through collaboration with partners, we have developed a program that, besides helping our fellow citizens, will be sustainable and beneficial for both partners in future activities. We have also facilitated intergenerational exchange of experiences and knowledge, contributing to adult education inclusivity and diversity.
