By implementing this project, we aimed to achieve: Holistic Integration: We sought to create a comprehensive learning platform that provides accessible materials for the integration of Roma individuals and migrants, addressing cultural understanding in the field of labour market, reproductive health, relationships, active citizenship and digital education. Diverse Learning Methodologies: We aimed to enhance educational materials by incorporating varied methodologies, ensuring our courses cater to different learning styles and effectively support participants’ development. Multilingual Approach: In developing materials in eight languages, we aimed to provide learners the opportunity to study in their native languages, recognizing that language is essential to cultural identity. When learners access resources in their own languages, they feel valued and understood, creating a supportive environment that encourages effective learning. Considering that our target audience often has low literacy skills, providing translations has enabled them to engage more effectively with the learning materials. This support helps fosters a more inclusive learning environment.
We applied for this project due to our active involvement in migrant integration in Croatia. We offer language courses and cultural integration programs designed to facilitate entry into the labor market, promote civic engagement, and enhance digital education. The COVID-19 pandemic shifted all our activities online, presenting both opportunities and challenges. While online courses broadened our reach and accommodated participants balancing family and educational responsibilities, we identified limitations in the materials. They often relied too heavily on a single format, lacking the diverse methodologies essential for effective learning. Our research highlighted a gap in integrational courses, which typically focus on isolated areas such as language or ICT skills. Our goal was to develop a comprehensive learning platform that provides accessible and relevant materials for the holistic integration of Roma and migrants from third countries. The platfrom was intended to make integration more accesable for our primary target group, but as well to accomodation the needs of volunteers and educators working with target group, as to provide relevent learning materials and a way to monitor the progress of learners.
