Objectives

By implementing this project, FFE and partners wanted to create resources and materials to support different types of organizations that work with young people to evaluate their policies and practices in the context of EDI values, to recognize room for improvement and to be empowered to initiate positive EDI changes in to his work. The created materials would enable the experts working young people to review the inclusive practices within their organizations so diverse young people, experiences and voices are included in all aspects of their organization. This was especially important bearing in mind that one third of young people in Europe are at risk of poverty and social exclusion, many do not have access to their social rights and many continue to face multiple discrimination, experience prejudice and hate crimes.

Background

Considering the many years of experience of cooperation with organizations and public institutions that work with young people, FFE and partners recognized that the organizations usually implement specific and/or partial activities aimed at prevention and combat of discrimination as well as promotion of equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) values. Also, their existing policies and practices in working with young people are rarely evaluated and improved in such a way that different people, experiences and voices are included in all aspects of their organizations. Our society is changing, and so is the demographic profile of Europe: the number of refugees in Europe is increasing, society is becoming more diverse. There is also increasing awareness of the unresolved issue of gender equality. At the same time, technological development, with the increasing presence of artificial intelligence, is affecting the way we live and work, increasing the need for new competences on improving inclusive environments for young people to prosper. In this context, social diversity and inequality are hotly debated, and access to education and lifelong learning, has become a high priority to ensure that no one is left behind.
