Objectives

Our main objective was to explore how we can face the challenges of climate changes by using different kinds of renewable energy sources. We explored different renewable energy sources in each mobility. Another important objective was to improve the intercultural understanding of our students and to improve their intercultural competences. Another objective was to improve our students' linguistic competences and to make it possible for them to communicate with foreign peers using foreign languages. Our goal was to change the mentality of the students participating in the project in the knowledge of the effects of climate change and to pass on this knowledge acquired within the framework of the project to their peers. Through their joint work, they learned about the processes taking place in partner countries, which can have an impact on their own opinion-forming. The development of intercultural competences is important for students because as adults they become more open to overcoming cultural differences and discovering cultural similarities.

Background

With the project we wanted to give students the opportunity to broaden their knowledge in terms of renewable energy, to open up to the world by developing their language and digital skills in order to strengthen their self-esteem. Moreover, in a world facing climate change, we wanted to show that anyone can make a change by using renewable energy sources and face the challenges of climate changes by using different kinds of renewable energy. We tried to show more eco-responsible modes of life. Our school is a Catholic Elementary and Secondary School in Tamási. The school plays a central role in the cultural life of the town and its neighbourhood. We are in a disadvantaged region, therefore we promote innovation and search opportunities so that our students get the chance to meet other cultures and take part in international projects. There are about 400 students, 35 teachers and 12 administrative workers in the school. The main profile of education is the 9-year-long high school training (students aged 10-19) focusing on foreign languages and IT. There is a 5-year-long training for students aged 14-18. The main role of our education is to prepare our students for their further education and to help them enter the labour market.
