The need for changing paradigm made 20% of school staff take part in our project ’The Next Milestone’. Our aim was to establish a board of motivated, methodologically prepared teachers and ambitious, cooperative and tolerant students open toward project-based learning, which is necessary for an innovative educational environment. Besides vocational training our school focuses on teaching languages. Several projects and scholarships require active language skills, therefore, when considering the courses an important factor is whether there will be an opportunity for language practice. In addition, computer literacy, which causes difficulty for the X generation, is also a requirement for both teachers and students. Thus, the other main objective of our project was to improve digital skills crucial to support flexible and versatile learning methods, an environmentally-friendly environment and work efficiency. Finally, we aimed at studying and integrating the project-based teaching method to enrich the existing methodological palette.
The Szegedi SZC Körösy József Secondary School of Economics is a hundred-year old recognised educational institute in South-Hungary with 25 years of international project experience. According to our motto „Quality is our tradition” we do our best to train highly qualified, innovative, flexible students to meet the expectations of the 21st century labour market. That is why we applied for Erasmus+ School Education funding in 2019 with our project called ’Innovative teachers for Korosy’, which we completed successfully with four participants. Thanks to the positive experience we felt the need to plan the way forward and find corresponding training opportunities involving more teachers and staff. Therefore, the application submitted in 2022 titled ’The Next Milestone’ is a logical successor and a component of the whole-school innovation process.
