Objectives

The main goals of our institution during the Erasmus application were the development of the following priority areas beyond professional competences (development of digital competences): development of self-awareness and personality, empathic behaviour towards others, foreign language-cultural development, supporting talented students, deepening environmental awareness and learning about European Union values. In the case of teaching colleagues, we aimed at methodological renewal and increasing their motivation. European mobilities provide an opportunity not only to benefit from local good practices, but also to promote personal, student and institutional success through a change in attitude. In addition, their foreign language competences have also improved. Projects that move students, teachers, and leaders at the same time have a significant community-building effect, they strengthen the relationships between the school's citizens. In many cases, our students come from low-stimulus environments, so they also lack the basics of digital literacy or environmentally conscious living. The project broadened the students' perspective and broadened their practical experience.

Background

In our school, the DUE Bánki Donát Technical School, we train technical specialists in several fields: software developer and tester, mechanical engineering technician, mechanical technician, railway vehicle assembly technician, industrial IT technician. Our teachers are professionally well-prepared, but the school management believes in and supports lifelong learning and the acquisition of new innovations, embracing the motivation of colleagues. Foreign experience is important for both students and teachers, so they support the opportunities that develop the digital competences of our students and teachers and strengthen their environmental awareness, as well as experience the cultural and social diversity of other societies in an international environment. In addition to professional training, we also consider the language training of our students to be an important task. Our institution has been an active participant in European Union projects since 2007. First, from 2007, we participated in the Comenius and Leonardo tenders, then in various projects within the framework of Erasmus+, and we also successfully applied as a partner institution.
