One of the aims was to familiarize 15 students of our school with advanced technologies in an organized form. Gaining international experience may be very beneficial for them as they can develop receptivity to affiliate new technologies and improve continuously. Another important objective of the project was the acquisition of practical skills which will be essential for them after leaving school. We compiled the training content so that it should match our training structure and at the same time to make it possible for our students to do activities which they cannot practise in our school. In addition, we included expectations according to which our students get acquainted with work culture, work discipline and work organization different from those in Hungary. Besides gaining practical experience we wanted our students to improve their knowledge of German language acquired in school both conversationally and professionally. We paid much attention to prepare the participating students to be able to hold on in a new and unknown environment, to make contacts with new people and to work in a team sharing duties. Last but not least, we intended our students to learn more about the culture of another country during their stay.
We chose the Glauchau training centre as the site of vocational practice in 2023 because we have known them since our first common project in 2004. During the former projects they did their best to make them successful not only professionally but also humanly. All this is proved well by the visit of the monitoring team of our school. Also, our students gave very positive feedback about the optimal working and living conditions including accommodation and meals. The wide range of organised programs opens up opportunities and helps them to improve their language knowledge, to learn more about German culture and to build new relationships. It was very important for us to choose a partner institution which owns those competences that are of utmost importance for us. The main priority was to cooperate with a school that provides its students with vocational training similar to ours. In this regard the partner institution seemed to be ideal for us as one of their main profiles is civil engineering, which was introduced in our school only a couple of years ago. We hope to widen the international dimension of our institution in the future, for example by our colleagues participating in professional and language training courses.
