Implementing a culture of lifelong learning is crucial in a renewable economy. Developing new competencies for workers through adult education is fundamental to the region's growth. In tourism, gastrotourism is gaining traction as many people enjoy exploring different cultures through their food and beverages. Vacations focused on gastronomic experiences are becoming increasingly popular. Following the pandemics, people seek safer, nature-oriented activities that provide new knowledge and active leisure. Recognizing this, our entrepreneurs are open to international solutions. Another important conclusion is the need for sustainability and efficiency. Professionals in our region need to learn about environmentally conscious methods. Challenges include reducing food waste, making packaging more eco-friendly, and decreasing its quantity in commerce. There is also a need to replace tools and materials used in tourism and hospitality with eco-friendly versions and address the application of renewable, green energy.
The BVKIK is the institutional organization for vocational training development related to the economy in Békés County. It maintains relations with all companies engaged in economic activities in the county. As a public law task delegated by the government, BVKIK oversees, supports, and certifies more than 120 vocational training programs and practical training sites, supported by over 300 external experts. Both the BVKIK SME Strategy and the Békés County Regional Development Strategy highlight hospitality, tourism, and related fields as key areas for development and potential growth. The rapid advancement of digitalization and the complete transformation of the new vocational structure and training system designed in the spirit of "Vocational Training 4.0" has created a new situation. The aging society and youth emigration have led to a labor shortage. In the post-pandemic situation caused by the war, the paying demand has decreased, and businesses in the affected sectors must find new ways to survive. In the economic crisis, employers demand new competencies from the increasingly expensive workforce. Due to sustainability and climate change, it is necessary to expand environmental awareness.
