The primary aim of the #discoverBudapest project was to empower young individuals to become proactive, environmentally conscious citizens capable of making meaningful contributions to their communities. By implementing this project, we sought to educate participants about the ecological impacts of tourism and transportation, emphasising sustainable practices. Through a blend of experiential learning, practical application, and collaborative activities, we aimed to foster a deeper understanding of environmental issues and inspire participants to engage actively in sustainable initiatives. To achieve this overarching aim, our project had several specific objectives. Firstly, we aimed to increase ecological awareness by demonstrating how creativity and technology can be utilised to raise awareness about the ecological impact on communities. This included educating both visitors and residents on how to preserve ecological and natural resources, plan mobilities, and evaluate infrastructure. We also aimed to encourage active citizenship by motivating young people to actively engage in community-driven initiatives and environmental issues, thereby fostering a sense of responsibility and proactive involvement. Promoting sustainable tourism was central to our goals. We aimed to reduce the impact of mass tourism and popularise ecotourism by raising awareness about its environmental challenges, thus encouraging sustainable travel alternatives.
