Objectives

A survey was carried out after the partnership was established. Partners were invited to share and review the results, and together with the partnership 85 young people were invited to complete the questionnaire. We were all struck by the fact that almost none of the young people who filled in the questionnaire knew why it was important to talk about these issues, 42 young people feel discriminated against, 51 young people didn't know what they could do about climate change, 35 young people didn't understand why it was important to talk about gender equality, 62 young people don't go to the polls because they don't know who to vote for. So our group decided to organise a YE for these young people to open their eyes and show them the importance of these issues, and we know that Theatre of the Oppressed is the best way to talk about these sensitive issues, because the founder Augusto Boal's aim was to study, discuss and express issues of citizenship, culture and active participation, different forms of oppression and sensitive issues through theatrical language. We are also aware that 2022 is the European Year of Youth, which is why we decided to focus more on young people, especially those living in rural areas, disadvantaged or vulnerable groups. While designing the project, we aimed to involve as many as possible of the 11 youth objectives, which we succeeded in doing. In addition, the following main objectives were identified for the period of the project: OB.1 : Exploring and deepening the understanding of the importance of gender equality through the Theatre of the Oppressed, with 37 young people, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds 30 august-6 September 2022. OB.2 : Developing young people's coping mechanisms with discrimination through the Theatre of the Oppressed, with 37 young people, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds 30 august-6 September 2022 OB.3: Learning about citizenship through the Theatre of the Oppressed with 37 young people, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds 30 august -6 September 2022 OB.4: Understanding the importance of caring for our environment with 37 young people, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, through the Theatre of the Oppressed, from 30 august to 6 September 2022.
