Objectives

The idea of creating the Youth Exchange “Speak Out Against Discrimination” was related to the social background that is happening in the project partner countries. We aimed to identify discrimination issues and implement a project which would help the young people to tackle the challenges that they face in their daily lives. The common social background that we recognized was the following: first of all, we examined the problem of discrimination. In our society, we see that people face hate speech, intolerance, negative stereotypes, prejudices, bullying, inequality, a lack of respect, and unfairness. It is essential to overcome these issues. Discrimination, prejudice, and stereotypes are still part of our reality, and citizens of our countries face cases of discrimination in their daily life. Young people can be the power that can change these attitudes and start building a bright future. That's why we created this project, aiming to help young people expand their horizons, enrich their knowledge and skills, and provide them with the tools they need to make future changes. Communicating and working with people from other cultures, nationalities, and backgrounds helped young people build multicultural awareness and see themselves as ambassadors of these ideas among their communities. Our goal was to raise awareness of human rights among young people, empowering them to recognize current issues and stand up against discrimination. The project promoted tolerance, overcoming hate speech, and raising awareness of marginalized groups' issues and social obstacles. The goals we set with the implementation of the project were: - To encourage participants to reflect and discuss the topics of discrimination, tolerance, prejudice, human rights, etc; - To acquaint participants with the roots of discrimination, its consequences, and the different types of discrimination they could encounter. - To equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to help them deal in a more effective manner with manifestations of discrimination and prejudice (whether they were in the role of a witness or the victim); - To encourage participants to take the initiative and act in their communities spreading the ideas and video messages created during the project; - To gain information about Youthpass and Erasmus +.
