This was the first time when we started partnership with third countries, and we wish to go on with this practice as participants coming from the Wester Balkan region appreciated more their participation in an Erasmus program then some from the EU. Once the region was hotspot of ethnical crises and the long-lasting effect of the conflict was present in the TC as well. Our young participant told us how their family suffered during the Balkan crises and how it hit their daily life as parents tend to suppress their emotions and thoughts to protect their kids. The TC was very relevant for the participants as lots of activities urged then to reflect on the role of multi-and intercultural competences and emotional intelligence so that they could manage diversity and foster inclusion. During the TC, there were activities that focused on unconscious bias how it can hinder tolerance. Through these activities participants explored more deeply unconscious bias and emotional literacy. In the debriefings, participants shared their experience with the activities, which sometimes surprised even the participants themselves Objectives of the TC were reached as participants - realised why humans are biased and people are naturally built to stereotype (why it van be interpreted not just negatively, but positively as well, and how this guides us in our routine activities) - learnt the relationship between bias and stereotypes, prejudice and discrimination - got the know-how to assess the impact of bias on decision-making, behaviour and relationships and also how to correct or mitigate this impact - received knowledge on how to tackle bias at their organisation This TC hugely increased awareness of the existence of bias in many fields and its negative impact in decision making. Through the activities participants developed skills to address unconscious bias in order to support decision making and an inclusive cultural diversity. Many participants expressed their interest to learn more and explore emotional Intelligence in a deeper approach.
