Objectives

In the application, we summarized our objectives as follows: "Our association and our partners have already explored the relationship between non-formal educational methods and contemporary artistic methods in several projects. In this work, we aim to take it to a new level, collaborating and complementing each other's knowledge, learning essential competencies from one another. We not only want to develop new forms and methods but also examine their relationship, all while conveying the message to as many young people as possible that art should be seen today not as a canon-directed, detached process from the individual but as a communal experience that can shape the quality of relationships between people and foster proper social thinking." The thematic content of the two activities aligned; both aimed to raise awareness of the tradition of community art, while also highlighting parallels with non-formal education. However, we applied different approaches formally – one focusing on internal creative processes and the other on interaction and public spaces. We aimed to have recurring youth workers and artist colleagues in both projects, and at the end of the projects, create a summarizing toolkit that could appeal to new colleagues (or potential colleagues) in the future. Thus, the project served as both a consolidation of previous knowledge and the transmission of this synthesized knowledge to new youth workers and artists. Additionally, our overarching goal was to change the participants' perception of art, as we believe that our education system imposes an outdated concept of visual arts, putting us at a disadvantage as both consumers and creators in navigating contemporary art. In the future, we aspire to engage in further collaborations on this topic, including with new partners, as there is a growing interest in our subject. The groundwork for these collaborations has been laid with both the toolkit and the experience gained from this project.
