Objectives

The topic of the project was based on our ESC projects entitled "Youth for value-creating media". The inventors and implementers of the project were primarily the young people who participated in it, but our Foundation also mentored and supported it throughout, providing it with an organizational background and professional experience. During the evaluation of the application, the fact that the implementing young people had another running project was identified as a danger, but we were able to bridge this without any problems during the execution, since not only all tasks fell to them, but also the foundation's employees/volunteers did their part, and open application along the way, new people also joined. Specific topic of the project: How do young people behave in the media? What is their opinion and what suggestions do they have for the sector? We sought answers to these questions, among others. The implementation was based on the method of our previous project, Active Youth II. to titled We incorporated the experiences we gained there into this project and further developed them. The following goals were defined by the young people and the organizers: - Better familiarization of the media world with young people, promotion of the media as a democratic platform, - Increasing the democratic participation of participating young people through the possibilities of the media, primarily at the local and national, or even European level, - Collecting and organizing the opinions of young people regarding the media in the framework of a research based on focus groups and questionnaire surveys. During the period of more than a year, we carried out the following activities: - expanding the knowledge of the target group on the subject, - promoting media awareness (e.g. filtering out fake news, etc.). - transfer of European values, - application of non-formal learning processes, - building a system of relationships with decision-makers working in the subject area, youth media - creating research on the topic, which we were able to convey to decision-makers. Our young volunteers did not come up with the project independently, but also involved the decision-makers and potential participants they reached in the planning in order to get to know their opinions and to jointly shape the program according to their needs. During the conversations, they came to the conclusion that young people do not know the dangers of the media, and are unable to distinguish fake news from reality. They do not have the appropriate knowledge or skills for this, but they already had suggestions for improving the situation, so we developed our tender program based on our discussions. We decided to create a research in the application, in which we ask the target group about the problems and needs related to the media, and convey this to the decision-makers, as well as build later projects on the results. We supplemented this research with program elements that help our participants navigate the topic. Active Youth II. c. compared to our project, we also introduced an innovation that before developing the questionnaire, we organized 6 focus group discussions in different parts of the country with 15 young people each time, so that we could incorporate their opinions into our research, and these occasions also helped us in developing the questionnaire. In our opinion, we were able to achieve an even more profound result with this addition. The most important motivations for our activity were: - help our target group develop together, navigate the world of media and voice their opinion about it, - help our target group acquire the necessary skills, - supporting the conscious thinking of young people, with which they can advance their affairs, - learn to use the knowledge and skills acquired here in other areas of life, - expand our own knowledge, relationships, and the number of young volunteers on the topic. One of the goals of our foundation is to create a relationship between the target group and the decision makers. This was only possible to a limited extent in our previous projects, but with this application we were able to achieve significant results. Our project identified and implemented the following quantifiable goals: - 1 team building organization for the implementers - organizing 6 focus groups across the country for 15 people/occasion, - creation of 4 youth programs of at least 12 days in total, deployment to festivals of great interest to young people, - Involvement of at least 5 decision-makers, - Direct involvement of at least 530 target group members in the program, - At least 700 young people who fill out our online research questionnaire, - Organization of 1 dissemination conference at the end of the project.
