We wanted to carry out our project because a significant number of young people in Tiszaluc have few opportunities. Many of them cannot even afford to go on holiday in their own country, let alone abroad. The application opened the way for us to take young people abroad as part of a learning process. Our aim with the project was to give the participating sons, who have fewer opportunities, the chance to get to know some of the countries of Europe, to develop their language skills in particular, as well as other skills, which would enable them to achieve similar results to their non-disadvantaged peers in later life. The project also aimed to visit places that would promote active citizenship, teach the participants about sustainability and introduce them to other cultures and customs, that they can use in their own lives or in the local community when they return home. Last but not least, we also want to make young people aware of the values of Europe, to make them realise that going abroad for a short period is an opportunity that can bring them many benefits. They also have opportunities as young people, that they should take advantage of. The opportunities offered by Erasmus+, the European Solidarity Corps, are an excellent tool for this.
