Objectives

The partnership decided to take steps with going green, reduce, reuse and recycle waste, to highlight on sustainable households in the context of the participating countries’ landscape policy, build up green skills and behavioural habits. It also aimed to support teachers with material to teach about protecting the environment. We were also hoping by joining the European network of Erasmus to gain experience and broaden our horizon. The background of the students is not usual- it also linked us. In the Werkschulheim Felbertal the students are well “protected” from the outside due to their remote location and the nature of a private boarding school. In UAX Aalborg the students are struggling with not being ready yet for further studies, either from academic reasons or the fact that a high percentage of them are immigrants and do not speak Danish. In Creascola, being a private school the students are coming from families with high expectations and the upper-layers of the society. For these reasons, by implementing the project, we wanted to broaden the students’ horizon, leading them on the way to become European citizens and showing that our common path to succed is taking responsibility for our planet Earth.

Background

The project is made up of 3 very different schools, without any experience in Erasmus+ projects, however having similar needs-which is the recognition that neither the adults, nor the young generation are taking enough responsibility for protecting our environment. Budaörs, in Hungary is a commuter town located near the capital city, that presents abundant GHG emissions due to daily traffic. In Salzburg area, where the Austrian school is located, transit of cars and lorries has increased, as being the route between North and South. In Aalborg, Denmark, often heavy rain is challenging the water management system and soil contamination is still threatening from the past industries in harbourfronts. The project gave us the opportunity to link the previous needs analyses at the schools and form a partnership. The needs made us aware of the lack of educational teaching material and good practices how to fight against climate change. It also showed that participation in protecting our environment needs to be enforced among our students, teachers, families and the whole community. Career guidance had to be helped with offering sustainable career prospects to our students and create the link between the schools and work.
