By implementing the project, the aim was to increase awareness within schools about the risks associated with social media and to establish clearer procedures for handling cyberbullying. Additionally, the project sought to help students develop media literacy skills, enabling them to distinguish between true and false information to avoid harm in the digital age. Another goal was to encourage students to use technology and social media positively—as tools for learning and personal growth—rather than being passively influenced by online content. The main aim of the project was to enhance media literacy and address disinformation, aiming to reduce harmful behaviors stemming from social media that disrupt the educational environment. This project introduced a balanced approach to learning that integrates students’ personal lives and individual differences while fostering healthy interactions with their surroundings. Key Objectives were: Promote Student Well-Being, Reduce Social Media Dependence, Promote Conscious Technology Use, Raise Awareness of Media Influence, Foster Intercultural Communication, Build Awareness of Societal Issues, Encourage Constructive Observation, Enhance Learning Outcomes.
The Erasmus+ "OFFLINE" project addressed critical challenges in media literacy across the four partner schools. Despite students' frequent use of the internet and technological tools, they often lacked the skills to use them responsibly. Key issues included the rise of hate speech, cyberbullying, internet addiction, and difficulty distinguishing between real and fake news. These problems were negatively affecting students' social interactions, academic performance, and emotional well-being. The project aimed to raise awareness about the risks of social media, equip students and teachers to prevent and address cyberbullying, and teach critical evaluation of online content to combat misinformation. Additionally, it focused on promoting the use of technology and social media as positive tools for learning and self-development. By addressing these needs, the project sought to foster a safer, more constructive digital environment, improve students’ critical thinking skills, and enhance the integration of technology into education effectively.
