Objectives

By implementing the project, we aimed to enhance youth engagement and active citizenship by fostering environmental and digital literacy. The initiative sought to leverage modern science communication methods, specifically targeting young people to increase their awareness and involvement in addressing environmental challenges. Through a blend of educational activities, digital storytelling, and interactive platforms like TikTok, the project intended to make science accessible and engaging, encouraging a proactive stance towards environmental issues among the youth. This approach was designed to not only educate but also to inspire a new generation to take meaningful action for a sustainable future.

Background

The application for the project "Modern Science Communication to Engage Young People with Environmental Challenges" (SciCom) is motivated by the recognition of significant gaps in youth engagement with science, particularly in the context of environmental challenges. Recognizing the gap in effective science communication and environmental education among young people, we aimed to leverage digital platforms to foster a deeper understanding and active participation in environmental issues. Our objectives were to enhance digital literacy, promote active citizenship, and empower young people to become ambassadors for environmental sustainability. By focusing on innovative educational methods and digital storytelling, we sought to make science communication more accessible and appealing, thereby increasing youth engagement in critical environmental actions and discussions.
