Background work was to Identify topics that are affecting young people or needs in their own community, so that we can empower them to act within the community. In both youth exchanges young people were consulted around the needs of the young people locally, and a project based around mental health and wellbeing was decided upon by the young people as a real need, locally, nationally and globally. Our second exchange was going to involve music as a theme and how music impacts the lives of young people, creating connection, learning and opportunities to explore cultural differences within the groups. Both themes allowed the opportunity to explore and educate young people around their lives, culture, identify, differences and shared values. Objective 2 : We see youth participation as an opportunity to develop and identify needs for young people in this area, from skills and knowledge, values and attitudes that influence their choices in life.
