Objectives

The objectives for PRISM came from the increasingly tougher restrictions imposed on the LGBTQI+ community in the Eastern part of the continent. For example, in member states such as Hungary and Poland, the governments have used the chaotic situation created by the COVID-19 crisis to introduce stricter laws concerning LGBTQI+ rights, while people’s attention turned to the pandemic. Since the legislation in these areas excludes the LGBTQI+ community, we decided to organise a youth exchange in a spirit of solidarity. Our aim is to create an opportunity for the youth of these regions to gain tools they can use to advocate for equal rights in their home countries. To address this issue, our primary objectives were: 1. Raising Awareness: Our primary goal was to highlight the escalating restrictions faced by the LGBTQI+ community, particularly in Eastern European countries. We see in our organisation that there are many young people who want to point out the issues that LGBTQI+ members all over the world are currently facing. Through this project, we aimed to shed light on the challenges and discriminatory laws these individuals could meet. 2. Empowerment through Theatrical Tools: We wanted to bring young people from these regions together to discuss this topic by using creative activities. We aimed to equip them with the necessary tools and skills through creative/skills workshops. By utilizing drama and theatre techniques, participants developed the ability to advocate for equal rights in their home countries effectively. 3. Youth Engagement and Collaboration: We intended to bring together diverse youth to engage in open discussions, fostering an understanding of LGBTQI+ issues through creative activities. This collaboration aimed to establish a network of like-minded young people for potential future projects. 4. Enhancing Cultural Understanding: By facilitating interaction among participants from different backgrounds, our project sought to broaden perspectives on identity-related issues and boost confidence among young people. The exchange aimed to develop an appreciation for cultural diversity and understanding among the participants. 5. Future Collaboration: We also wanted to establish a strong relationship with the partner organisations through this project. This objective was to increase the possibility of future collaboration and project developments. PRISM project aligned with Erasmus+ priorities by empowering young people using the theatre approach as the main creative tool. Through workshops and creative activities, we hoped to help young people gain the confidence to promote equal rights in their home countries, encouraging collaboration, cultural understanding, and future partnerships.
