Objectives

The primary goal of this project was to exchange effective practices around ADHD in adults across Europe, with a focus on educating and informing individuals about ADHD. This work was designed to improve the quality of life for adults with ADHD, positively impacting their mental health and well-being. These objectives were at the core of our project priorities and were broken down into several key aims: 1. Educate project participants and stakeholders—including adults with ADHD, healthcare professionals, family caregivers, health authorities, and the general public—about ADHD. 2. Raise awareness about ADHD across these groups through targeted awareness campaigns. 3. Strengthen support for adults with ADHD and their family caregivers by organising self-help groups, focus groups, and relevant meetings. 4. Share expertise, practical strategies, and lived experiences around ADHD to expand knowledge and equip individuals with tools to manage their condition effectively. 5. Promote international cooperation, networking, and cultural exchange to encourage professional development and build organisational capacity.

Background

We applied for this project to address a critical need for better awareness, education, and support for adults with ADHD across Europe. Designed as a collaborative initiative, the project aimed to improve the quality of life for adults with ADHD by sharing best practices that promote mental health and well-being. Partnering organisations, including ADHD Ireland, the Greek Carers Network, and the University of Cyprus came together to strengthen educators’ skills, foster inclusion, and provide essential support to family caregivers. Through these combined efforts, we’ve made significant progress toward achieving the project’s goals and advancing meaningful support for the ADHD community. We recognised that raising awareness is essential, not only to counter misinformation about ADHD but also to foster better understanding within workplaces and communities. Adults with ADHD face unique challenges, and employers and others must be equipped with accurate information to create supportive, inclusive environments. Additionally, this project addresses the needs of family members, providing them with the knowledge and tools they need to support their loved ones. We made these resources accessible and easy to understand for this reason.
