University College Dublin has participated in Erasmus mobility since the beginning of the programme, and the university has continued its participation under Key Action 1, supporting the mobility of its students and staff. Through its participation, UCD aims to provide a suite of international opportunities which will create a unique international perspective for UCD degree programmes. Because of its long engagement with Erasmus mobility, UCD already has a large network of European partners, among them some of the leading institutions in the world. The Erasmus programme supports integrated mobility windows in many of UCD's degree programmes, across almost all disciplines, allowing students to select their studies with the clear intention of spending time abroad as part of their final qualification. Our staff mobility opens up opportunities for professional development, enhanced international collaboration and sharing of best practice for UCD faculty and staff. Student and staff mobility numbers have grown year-on-year since 2021 and are returning to pre-pandemic levels, and this trend is continuing into 2023. This mobility supports universitywide collaboration, including University Alliance activities, research and joint programmes. Since joining the Una Europa University Alliance in 2022, UCD is further seeking to deepen its mobility activities with the other ten member universities, including the new initiatives of Blended Intensive Programmes and short-term mobility options. The 2022 project saw the first participation of UCD students in BIPs, a welcome addition to the mobility opportunities on offer to students in all cycles and disciplines.
