Background

We applied for this project as the relationship between tourism and gender equality has not been paid as much attention as we think it should. According to the UNWTO tourism can present both opportunities and challenges for women, therefore making the gender equality perspective highly relevant. This added to the fact that tourism has the opportunity to play a pivotal role in achieving the UN's 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, we believe that a project such as this is highly relevant and beneficial for the THL sector in Europe. The primary needs addressed by this project were therefore to focus on INCLUSIVE & DIVERSE environments that foster a reduction in gender disparity among women in the THL sector while aligning our efforts with the SDGs & CLIMATE-ACTION. Additionally, we wanted to address the needs of educators to deliver relevant competences to their students with educational resources that UPPSKILL TEACHING STAFF and integrates sustainability and SDGs across all teaching, as well as addressing educators need to develop their students' leadership skills and soft skills in areas such as problem framing, critical thinking, futures proficiency and ethics.
