Objectives

The main objectives of the project were: to enhance students’ intercultural and foreign language skills, to enhance their professional skills, with particular reference to sustainable construction, to make the CAT course more attractive, with particular attention to female students leaving lower secondary school.

Background

Istituto Fermi is a secondary school that includes several fields of study. This application was aimed at students of the Construction, Environment and Territory (CAT) specialization, as they had never benefited from Erasmus VET experiences, so the need to offer dedicated international experiences had emerged, with a particular focus on the issue of sustainability related to the construction sector. When we submitted the application, the CAT course was going through a moment of great crisis, with a consequent drop in enrolments, and it was also struggling to attract female enrolments: female students were only 25% of the total. We believed that the international mobility experience could respond to the educational needs of students and at the same time make the course of study more attractive to lower secondary school students, including female students. The PRO mobilities on the other hand have been assigned to students of the Tourism sector of the school, where this longer kind of mobility is much more needed.
