The objectives achieved by the I.I.S. "Pentasuglia" through the implementation of the "E.S.I."project are four:To enhance the human, technical and professional skills of students through internships programs at companies in Europe; To improve the methodological skills of teachers in developing Active Teaching and Work-Based Learning modules by structuring PCTOs (Paths for Competences and Lifelong Learning) in line with European standards; To increase the linguistic and relational skills of the Educational Assistants (ATA staff) to enhance their role in supporting active and digital teaching and in the construction of PCTOs by observing different working contests; To strengthen the connection between the School and businesses in the Basilicata region and in Europe by developing new PCTOs in line with international standards.Due to issues related to internal School organization, the Institute had to request an extension for the project activities on 30.9.2023, which allowed the project's closure date to be postponed from 13/11/2023 to 13/05/2024, enabling the completion of all planned mobility activities for staff.Following project’s extension, the staff mobilities took place in April 2024 (from 15/04/2024 to 29/04/2024).
The Vocational High School “G. B. Pentasuglia” is located in Matera, Basilicata, and is situated in a region that is quite complex from an industrial perspective, characterized by a limited entrepreneurial and innovative inclination. Regional enterprises require human resources capable of managing global demands for innovation and internationalization, but they face challenges in finding young individuals who are qualified and experienced in this regard, due to a VET system that is still distant from labour market needs. This is the reason behind the School’s decision to participate in Erasmus+ with the “E.S.I. – Europe for School Innovation” project, to address 3 priorities: -The valorisation of the School’s staff by involving teachers and Educational Assistants (ATA staff) in European mobility actions to exchange and enhance practices in active teaching (laboratory), ICT, and WBL; -The reduction of students' school failure and employment difficulties by providing transnational internship experiences to equip them with the right skills to succeed in school and the job market; -The improvement of School-business liasion to enhance the overall quality of VET offerings.
