Our project was designed to address the specific objectives and needs of the organizations and their staff involved. We aimed to enhance their skills and capacities in tackling online discrimination, particularly targeting vulnerable groups such as LGBTQI individuals. One of our main objectives was to provide employees with the tools and methodologies they need to effectively combat homophobic cyberbullying. Our goal was to develop a new generation of professionals who can respond concretely and effectively to this growing problem. Furthermore, our project aims to increase the attractiveness and accessibility of professional training related to LGBTQI rights, thereby increasing employability and enabling people to become agents of change in their communities. Moreover, our project offered opportunities for individuals with fewer opportunities to participate in European training and mobility experiences, promoting inclusivity and expanding the reach of the European Union locally. Through communication and dissemination activities, we aimed to strengthen our presence in smaller communities
We applied for this project because we recognized the urgent need to address the critical issues faced by LGBTQI individuals in the digital sphere, particularly concerning online bullying. The project's focus on equipping organizations with the necessary skills to combat this issue seemed relevant considering the increasing prevalence of cyberbullying following the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, the emphasis on enhancing digital skills within the workforce aligns with the European Skill Agenda's priority on digital proficiency. Given that most jobs now require elaborate digital competency, it is crucial to bridge the gap in digital skill levels, particularly in countries where these levels are below the European average, such as Italy, Romania, and North Macedonia. The statistics on the prevalence of homophobic and transphobic cyberbullying underscore the urgency of our efforts. With a significant percentage of individuals affected having experienced harassment online, it is imperative to develop effective strategies to combat these harmful behaviors and create a safer online environment for all.
