LOST2 was created to address the growing phenomenon of disappearances—particularly involving minors and vulnerable individuals—by developing a European-recognized professional qualification for practitioners in the field. Before the project, there were no structured, standardized, and specific training pathways available. The goal was to develop a clear professional profile through a modular, flexible, and adaptable training package, suited to various roles and competency levels, including both specialized and non-specialized actors.
LOST2 was launched to address the growing issue of missing persons in Europe, especially minors and vulnerable individuals. Building on the LOST project (2017), it aimed to develop a European recognized qualification based on interdisciplinary skills, while exposing the flaws of fragmented, inadequate response systems. Key objectives: Harmonizing professional skills across countries, integrating psychological and digital expertise, establishing common operational standards, providing targeted training for both professionals and non-specialist stakeholders. To achieve these goals, LOST2 established a strong network of European partners and designed a comprehensive, training pathway, aligned with EU priorities. Need (N): Youth marginalization Objective (O): Train professionals using innovative methodologies Expected Outcome (EO): 6 training modules and a fully operational OCP platform. N: Limited digitalization in VET O: Develop a multilingual platform with training modules EO: OCP available in 6 languages, with self-evaluation tools.
