Objectives

Our objectives: fostering the development of active European citizenship, with particular attention to sustainability and improving the knowledge and use of foreign languages by opening one's horizons. During the exchange activities, the students have broadened their horizons, becoming more active and aware European citizens. They have questioned and evaluated their consumption habits, energy use and sustainable development through comparison with the new reality, so as to make the implementation of new ideas and strategies possible and desirable. The improvement of the capacity for social relationships and openness to diversity, accepting and sharing new ways and new rules of life with their new foreign students, has contributed to the formation of aware European citizens. Social capacity has also been consolidated through the possibility of putting their own communication skills into play in an authentic and motivating context. Therefore, the topics on which the pupils have worked during the mobilities were: - sustainability and green competences - European identity, citizenship and values - teaching and learning foreign languages.

Background

Our application is part of a tradition of mobility and exchanges with Europe that has distinguished our high school for years. After a period in which all student mobility has been stopped by the pandemic, we would like to offer again to our students the opportunity to learn, to practice the language, to gain new experiences, to become open and tolerant European citizens through the knowledge of a different reality. Our secondary school serves a very large area, which covers about 30 municipalities. It is a high school with various fields of studies and welcomes students aged between 14 and 19 years old. The educational activities offered by the mobility are of high educational value for teachers, pupils and parents and foster pro-European experiences, developing social cohesion and demolishing prejudices and stereotypes while building a "United Europe", in which our school firmly believes, as our school welcomes more and more pupils from recent immigration, who need linguistic and didactic support for integration and educational success.
