Objectives

Educate pupils to respect the person and prevent discrimination against all diversity and prejudice, whether linked to gender, race, language, religion, or personal and social conditions. Enhance language learning to expand critical skills, thanks to comparison with other cultures as it allows the student to interact with people of different nationalities. Promote students’ educational success, increase their motivation, self-esteem and sense of autonomy. By implementing the project we also want to aim at improving and strengthening the skills of teachers. Promote training courses on the use of innovative methodologies, on digital teaching, on development of foreign language skills, on the values of inclusion and diversity, tolerance and democratic participation. Moreover, it is important to support the sharing and transfer of good practices in teaching and in the development of the entire school community in order to get a stronger European identity.

Background

Our school operates in a risk area, in a neighborhood where there is a lack of recreational facilities and social protection. Families are predominantly single-income and occasional work is widespread. The participation of parents in the life of the school is in some cases not constant, the interest in their children's educational path is centered more on the result than on the path. Emerging problems are linked to the lack of recognition of the school role. Sometimes, strong demotivation determines social and relational dynamics, acting as a centrifugal force from the school reality. The needs and challenges that our institute is currently facing are: motivating pupils' participation in the educational and didactic actions proposed in an innovative and active vision, developing responsible behavior inspired by knowledge and respect for eco-sustainability, strengthening school inclusion and the right to study of pupils with special educational needs, preventing and combating school dropout.
