Objectives

The implementation of our project aimed to achieve the following objectives: to adapt teaching methods, strengthening the European dimension and the quality of teaching, through professional development, communication in a foreign language, sharing and transfer of best teaching practices or school development. Acquire good administrative practices, dealing with cross-border management models. Sensitise the entire school community to the acquisition of eco-sustainable behavioural habits, based on greater physical activity, a 0 kilometre diet, which favours respect for food and wine traditions, culture and the territory, an ever greater "green" mobility, based on the enhancement of motor skills as a tool for balanced growth, the pivot of a healthy lifestyle, together with a balanced diet, Protect and respect the places where you live, preserve the environment, collect waste separately, avoid disposable materials and respect local fauna. The achievement of these objectives, in fact, goes well with the actions implemented to achieve a higher level of eco-sustainability in mobility, through the increasingly widespread use of green means of transport such as bicycles, scooters and pedestrian mobility. Enhancing cultural heritage.

Background

The "G. Lombardo Radice" High School is a secondary school and has three branches: 1) Ordinary Linguistic High School, ESABAC, Cambridge International School option. It is a preparation centre for Cambridge exams at B1-B2-C1 levels and students take the ICGSE in Mathematics, Geography, French and Spanish. 2) High School of Human Sciences 3) High School of Human Sciences, Social studies, Economics It also implements a didactic model of Pathways for Transversal Skills and Orientation with which students are provided, in addition to basic knowledge, those skills necessary for entering the labour market, offering them the opportunity to spend hours outside the school walls, with the assistance of the tutor to ensure their experiences "in the field" and be oriented to the world of work/training and to the university academic world. The CLIL methodology is widely used for some 'non-linguistic' subjects. There are about 1650 students attending our institute, aged between 14 and 18, mainly from the urban reality of Catania and neighbouring towns and belonging to middle-class families. Those who decide to attend our high school are highly motivated students with a vocation for internationalisation, attention to the individual and social.
