Objectives

Our Institute emphasizes the adoption of innovative teaching methods, including Cooperative Learning. With well-equipped laboratories, the school aims to inspire innovation in professional sectors by encouraging teachers to creatively use and update laboratory teaching methods. Addressing the urgent need for English proficiency, especially in subjects requiring Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), the school offers basic English courses and promotes immersion experiences in European countries while providing CLIL-specific training. Emphasizing linguistic enhancement for teachers, the school aims to engage them in international educational environments, creating networks for future projects and observing innovative methodologies. The school's mission focuses on fostering excellence in various disciplines, including STEM/STEAM, while reducing the percentage of students with suspended judgments in Mathematics. Approved to establish a four-year high school class for outstanding students, the goal is to integrate humanistic, scientific, and technological knowledge, providing advanced skills in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and informatics (STEAM).

Background

The MAJORANA Institute in Martina Franca is a school with various specializations, but a clear priority, as stated in the PTOF, is to increasingly overcome the transmissive dimension of teaching through the expansion of new teaching methodologies. It is a technical institute in the technological sector, with specializations in computer science, electronics, electrical engineering, chemistry/materials, and biotechnology. It is a professional institute with specializations in industrial and artisanal productions (Fashion) and Maintenance and Technical Assistance. The current Applied Sciences High School is currently the school where they integrate and collaborate with disciplines from the common area. The school also functions as a Second-level CPIA (Adult Education Center), with a focus on computer science, serving as a reference for adults seeking to obtain a diploma. The school has been leading the ITS Fashion project. This project is aimed at all teachers with permanent contracts and all disciplines within the school. The MAJORANA Institute is structured into various programs, with a clear objective, as outlined in the PTOF, of increasingly moving beyond traditional teaching, methods by incorporating new pedagogical approaches
