Through the implementation of this project, the Comprehensive Institute wanted to achieve the following objectives: 1) Language skills and sharing of common European values. The project aimed at improving the competence in the English language and the acquisition of the CLIL methodology by the teachers who must be able to produce authentic materials for their classes, build creative content and create an inclusive environment. 2) Prevention and combating early school leaving through the use of innovative teaching methods. The project foresaw the study of new teaching techniques to motivate students with learning problems and reduce school failures. 3) Inclusion and diversity: improving the inclusion of BES, DSA and foreign pupils. The project foresaw the deepening of new techniques to work in heterogeneous classes, the use of technology in the classes, the encouragement of creativity, the development of critical thinking to improve the integration of all students and their motivation to study.
The Comprehensive Institute is located in a very complex socio-cultural context, characterized by a low socio-economic level as noted by the SNV INVALSI and the Ministry of Education and Merit, where there is a significant number of foreigners, disadvantaged pupils, DSA certified students, pupils with Special Educational Needs. Although the school offers educational projects and differentiated educational paths in order to expand the educational offer, there are several school dropouts; in addition, the results obtained at the Invalsi tests are inadequate. The need to combat these critical issues has given rise to the need for this Erasmus+ project, in order to train the teaching staff in the use of new and engaging teaching methods, improve their language skills and encourage them to work in a European dimension.
