Objectives

The objectives of the project can be summarized as follows: - giving our high school international imprinting, thus enhancing the English language skills of teachers and students, deepening multidisciplinary and multicultural content, through innovative methodological tools; - implementing the concept of European citizenship in our students thanks to the study in English of traditional and current contents that focus on Europe, its history, and its institutions; - promoting greater intercultural awareness among teachers and students; - sharing good teaching practices with colleagues from our high school, with those of the institutions of the host countries and the educational realities of our territory. On the whole, our main goal was to give a wave of openness to our school which has been too long closed only to the national curricula.

Background

The project was born from the need of our school, Liceo Scientifico Lussana, to create a network of international relations in order to share good teaching practices and in general to guarantee its teachers a high level of professional skills acquired thanks to the comparison with international institutions and supported by an Erasmus+ project. Liceo Lussana is a public school that since 1985 has been promoting multilingual experimental projects and more recently international cooperation and digital innovation projects have been added. At the moment we feel the need to compare our teaching experience with other international schools in order to experiment with the replicability of innovative didactic models learned in contexts abroad. This necessity is also based on the awareness of the importance of mastering English at school, university, work, and for personal reasons. A group of teachers was willing to take part in job shadowing activities and English-structured courses in Dublin in order to enhance their linguistic competence in English and most of all to open their horizons to a wider perspective.
