With the "ToM" project, a stable evaluation system was introduced in the institute which starts from the standard measurement of learning, carried out through external evaluation tests integrated with internal evaluation, in order to achieve the improvement of the individual performances of the pupils and of the entire school community, in line with international best practice. In particular, we looked at the Finnish model, to deepen interventions on strategies, methods and tools aimed at also favoring the professional development of the teachers of our institute responsible for basic learning, in order to achieve the improvement of student outcomes and processes through innovative teaching. The project wanted to ensure visible and measurable progress in the convergence towards the Community objectives relating to the improvement of basic skills since the European programs represent a precious opportunity for internalization both in terms of didactic innovation and renewed motivation of teachers. Finally, the project has allowed the institute to start the process of Europeanization and internalization with the dissemination of good practices.
The IISS “E. FERDINANDO” is located in Mesagne, a predominantly agricultural town not far from Brindisi, and includes four courses with different educational profiles: Scientific and Dance High School, ITE (Finance and Marketing -Tourism), ITT - daytime and evening Mechatronics; all day programs welcome students between the ages of 14 and 19 who are graduating from upper secondary education. The institute presents critical issues in the results of the Invalsi tests, records numerous school dropouts and a territory that suffers from numerous delinquent phenomena, therefore educational courses are designed that are attentive to the needs of individuals, aiming to improve the quality of teaching-learning for full development of the individual. The aforementioned sectors have been involved in the implementation of the ERASMUS project, even the teachers involved in the mobility have been selected from all the fields of study to ensure a more widespread dissemination within the Institute. The Institute therefore needs to improve the Invalsi results, train the teaching staff on innovative methodological-didactic skills to guarantee the educational success of each student.
