Objectives

The aim of the group mobilities that involved Italian, Norwegian, Dutch and Polish students of the same age, was to provide means and methodologies to approach the decision-making process of democratic society. We wanted the students to become acquainted with the working methods of national and international institutions (European ones, in particular) that are appointed to activate sustainable development politics at all levels. Specifically, we aimed to make the students aware of the most urgent social and political challenges that their own Countries and the European Community are currently facing, inviting the students (through the cooperative discussion) to realise their own role and responsibility by proposing feasible solutions. The Job Shadowing activity, on the other hand, aimed to offer to one of Barbarigo’s teachers the possibility to experience the didactic modalities for similar disciplines but in different school systems. From the discussion with peers we expected, for the teacher involved, improved professional competences, thanks to the comparison of didactic methodologies, syllabus and modulation of the programmes and by sharing the evaluation criteria (especially in reference to students with special needs).

Background

Since 2022 the Fondazione Girolamo Bortignon manages, by incorporation, the Istituto Barbarigo in Padova, catholic school that offers three Lyceum streams (classical studies, scientific studies, IT studies) together with a Business school and the Middle school. Coherently with Barbarigo's twenty years long tradition, Fondazione Bortignon has confirmed its interest in offering to its students the projects of international mobility framed in the Erasmus+ Projects, and to its teachers the possibility of professional education and training through the access to Job Shadowing activities. The multilinguistic implementation (optional classes of Spanish, Science in English, preparatory courses to linguistic certifications), the offered possibility of lectures with English native speakers and the annual celebration of Europe Days, are crowned and completed by the Erasmus experiences offered to the students of the third year of High School (Liceo). Considering the high educational value of the project and the concrete competences it helps develop, Barbarigo has appointed the Erasmus+ Project as its key-action also valid as PCTO (school activities to gain competences for the job market).
