Objectives

The project was designed to maintain and increase the high school's international outlook through complementary actions and activities involving various components of the school community - students, teachers and the Administrative, Technical and Auxiliary staff (ATA) – mutually empowered through a 'circular' working methodology. Our school's mission statement (drawn up by our school headmaster), the Three-Year School Education Plan and other strategic documents, such as the Self-Evaluation Report and our Improvement Plan, all prioritized the process of internationalisation and the ongoing improvement of teachers; and students; language skills. This was confirmed by the surveys conducted among the teachers in charge of the various departments of the School Board and the students involved in long and short-term mobilities, as well as by past and current experience. Moreover, the process of obtaining accreditation for the Cambridge International School, strongly supported and initiated by the new school Head Master, Mr Claudio Crapis, since the beginning of his tenure, is now underway. The aim is to form Cambridge classes in the three pathways of our high school (based on enrolments), offering the opportunity attain a final IGCSE

Background

The Liceo Cagnazzi with its three study pathways – CLASSICAL, HUMAN SCIENCES and SOCIO-ECONOMICS -has been a strong educational reference point for the Murgia area for more than 100 years, maintaining constant and fruitful relationships with local educational, academic, cultural and professional institutions. The Three-Year School Education Plan is based around four priorities that give it a precise identity –the intertwining of humanistic and scientific education; an open dialogue with the world of research; internationalisation and ongoing innovation in teaching methods. These objectives are further enriched by blending our curricular activities with in-service teacher training, “Transversal Skills and Orientation Paths for students”, extra-curricular projects and events, and Erasmus Projects, whereby our School strives to systematise its best practices through constant reflection on its role and vocation. For more than 25 years, the Liceo has been engaged in a process of internationalisation through the creation of the COMENIUS NETWORK, numerous European and PON. A recent survey regarding the aforementioned projects showed a positive response from the students and their families and confidence towards the educational objectives
