The overall goal that we set out to achieve with the project was to promote a school environment that enhances students' well-being by incorporating innovative approaches, developing key skills, and addressing the specific challenges of the socioeconomic context. The school aimed to surpass the traditional classroom model by reimagining spaces and teaching methods to prevent students from being mere passive recipients. Active and hands-on teaching was strongly encouraged, giving students the opportunity to actively participate through the implementation of projects and collaborative activities. Consistent with these objectives, efforts were made to provide teachers engaged in job-shadowing with training on the use of digital teaching methods. In Ireland, students had the opportunity to delve deeper into and better understand the topics of digital well-being, cyberbullying, and hate speech in an intercultural context. This journey served as a significant reinforcement compared to regularly offered activities, such as the Safer Internet Day and other initiatives carried out directly in classrooms to counteract negative attitudes resulting from improper use of the World Wide Web.
The Lower Secondary School Institute 'Alighieri-Pascoli,' formed through the merger of the middle schools 'Dante Alighieri' and 'Giovanni Pascoli' in 2009/2010 in Città di Castello, is dedicated to the education of students aged 11-14. The institute's primary goal is to promote integration, particularly through music, concerts, and performances, which are crucial in a setting with a significant number of non-Italian students (approximately 140) and students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). The institute has always been attentive to the needs of the local community while simultaneously striving to encourage both students and teachers to broaden their horizons. It has consistently embraced the challenges of improvement, expansion, and enhancement of its educational offerings, incorporating all possible innovations, including the implementation of technological and computer skills (such as the European ECDL license in previous years, certification in English and French languages, design and implementation of numerous PON projects, accreditation as a Training Agency by the Umbria Region, and expansion of educational offerings as a music school).
