Objectives

Through the project's activities, the school community aims to improve: the cultural, educational, and pedagogical dimensions of the student population; enhance language skills and abilities through participation in training courses and cooperation and collaboration with foreign colleagues; learn and implement new innovative teaching methodologies; improve students' language skills by teaching some subjects using the CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) methodology; allow students involved in mobility programs to experience significant intercultural and transnational exchanges in teaching/learning processes. This experience will be shared with the rest of the student population through meetings, production of digital products, and laboratory activities, and will also have a positive impact on students who do not participate in mobility programs; practice and share best practices in organizing educational activities for an increasingly open and inclusive school, integrating the acquired skills into educational and project planning; improve students' skills; learn and implement new methods.

Background

Ours is a comprehensive state school that includes kindergartens, primary schools, and lower secondary schools in the municipalities of Ciminna, Baucina, and Ventimiglia di Sicilia. The administration of the institute is based at the middle school in Ciminna. Our educational programs are based on ministerial curricula. The student population of the three kindergartens is 147 students, that of the three primary schools is 286 students, and that of the secondary schools is 175 students. All subjects provided by the ministerial programs are taught. Since the 2010 school year, our institute has been accredited as a music institute and has initiated the study of four instruments: guitar, piano, oboe, and horn, with excellent results. These have seen students continue their instrumental studies at music academies and the Palermo Conservatory after completing their primary education cycle. The student population attending our institute ranges from 3 to 14 years old. In the 1960s and 1970s, the three municipalities experienced the phenomenon of emigration, and the population progressively decreased significantly.
